Our Origins: From Tutoring to a Global Academy
Our story began with a simple mission: providing high-quality home tutoring and after-school clubs. As our community of tutors, lecturers, and senior academics grew, we recognized a recurring barrier—many talented students were being locked out of higher education due to rigid entry requirements, financial constraints, or geographical limitations.
To solve this, we evolved. MIA was formed by a collective of educators who combined their expertise to create a flexible, robust academic ecosystem. We transitioned from local tutoring to a global academy, offering Ofqual-recognised Level 3 to Level 7 qualifications that carry the same weight as traditional university years.
The Meridian International Academy Story
Our roots lie in years of hands-on tutoring—supporting students through home tuition, after-school programmes, and online learning. As student demand grew, our founding tutors partnered with seasoned academics from leading universities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Together, they recognised a recurring challenge faced by thousands of learners: frequent strikes, political instability, and institutional disruptions preventing students from completing their education or progressing to university—even through online systems. Meridian was created as a solution.
We provide UK and internationally recognised qualifications that are widely accepted by universities and employers worldwide, enabling students to progress seamlessly to higher education abroad or within globally aligned academic frameworks. We provide pathways for students whose previous grades don’t meet traditional university entry requirements.
Flexible Progression
Students can complete their Foundation, Year 1, or Year 2 equivalent in their home country—saving significantly on costs—before traveling abroad to complete their final years at a UK university.
